WisMesh Pocket V2
RAK WisMesh Pocket V2
★★★★☆ 4.0
📱 Companion Radio Overview
The RAK WisMesh Pocket V2 is a consumer-targeted, fully-assembled LoRa companion radio based on the proven RAK 4631 core (nRF52840 + SX1262). Where the WisBlock system requires building and assembling modules, the WisMesh Pocket comes ready to use — just flash MeshCore firmware and attach a Bluetooth companion phone or use it standalone.
Hardware
The WisMesh Pocket V2 shares its core hardware with the WisBlock / WisMesh platform:
- nRF52840 — ultra-low power ARM Cortex-M4 processor
- SX1262 — Semtech LoRa radio, same as most MeshCore devices
- GPS receiver — built-in for position sharing
- OLED display — small screen for basic status without a phone
- Physical buttons — navigate menus without a touchscreen
- USB-C charging — standard rechargeable battery
✓ Pros
- ✔ Pre-assembled — no soldering or kit building
- ✔ GPS built-in
- ✔ Ultra-low power nRF52840
- ✔ Small OLED display + physical buttons
- ✔ Professional enclosure with lanyard attachment
✗ Cons
- ✕ More expensive than bare WisBlock kit
- ✕ Limited display compared to T-Deck or Cardputer
- ✕ Community firmware only — not a separate flasher entry (uses WisBlock/RAK 4631 build)
MeshCore Firmware
Flash using the RAK WisBlock / WisMesh (RAK 4631) firmware build in the MeshCore Flasher. The Pocket V2 uses the same chipset, so no separate firmware entry is needed — standard WisBlock community firmware works.
Ideal For
- Users who want a professional finished device rather than a dev kit
- Low-power GPS tracking with minimum fuss
- Companion radio paired with the MeshCore mobile app
- Users who appreciate the reliability and battery life of nRF52840 over ESP32
