Where to Buy
RAKwireless 3dBi Indoor Antenna
Overview
RAKwireless’s compact 3 dBi indoor fiberglass antenna is the natural companion for their LoRa modules and gateways. It’s designed to sit on a shelf or desk beside your node, providing a clean omnidirectional pattern without the bulk of a full outdoor fiberglass.
Use Case
This is the “sensible default” indoor antenna:
- Plugs directly into RAK WisBlock, RAK7244, RAK7268, and similar hardware
- Good match for an indoor repeater node on a bookshelf or attic beam
- Appreciably better than the stub antennas shipped with evaluation modules
Compared to the RAK 5.8dBi Outdoor
| RAK 3dBi Indoor | RAK 5.8dBi Outdoor | |
|---|---|---|
| Gain | 3 dBi | 5.8 dBi |
| Mounting | Desktop / shelf | Pole / mast |
| Weather | Indoor only | Weatherproof |
| Price | ~$12 | ~$25 |
If you’re mounting through a window or in a weatherproof enclosure outdoors, use the 5.8dBi. For clean indoor installs, this is the right tool.
Connector Note
RAK offers this antenna in both RP-SMA and N-type variants. The RP-SMA version pairs directly with most WisBlock and WisGate devices. The N-type version is for gateway installs with larger coax runs.
