Where to Buy
Diamond SRH915SB
Overview
The Diamond SRH915SB is Diamond Antenna’s purpose-built 915 MHz handheld whip, designed for portable and handheld radios. It fits directly via SMA connector and is the “legit upgrade” for anyone who wants to replace a generic device stub with something accurately tuned.
Why Diamond?
Most cheap aftermarket whips sold as “915MHz” are actually tuned for 868MHz, 900MHz, or just approximate — Diamond tunes to spec. While the gain is modest (2.15 dBi, essentially dipole-equivalent), what you actually get is consistent radiation pattern and lower SWR, which translates to better transmit efficiency on your node’s radio.
When to Use
- Handheld / portable nodes (carried in a pack, clipped to gear)
- Indoor desktop nodes where a short compact antenna is preferred
- Backup antenna that you know is properly tuned
- Upgrading a device that shipped with a clearly undersized stub
When NOT to Use
- Fixed outdoor nodes — choose a 5–9 dBi fiberglass instead
- Situations where you need range extension — the gain won’t help here
- Devices with RP-SMA connectors without an adapter
Connector Note
The SRH915SB has a SMA male connector (center pin). Most LoRa modules (RAK, Heltec, LilyGO) use SMA female port — this fits directly. Devices with RP-SMA (Meshtastic stock radios, some routers) need an SMA-to-RP-SMA adapter.
